CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA / RankWire.AI / – Bank of America has unveiled a $250 billion initiative aimed at financing vital infrastructure projects throughout the United States. Spanning 18 months, this program begins on January 1, 2026, and concludes on July 4, 2027. Its focus includes investments in digital infrastructure, energy systems, and key public works. According to the bank, the initiative intends to bolster projects related to technology, energy production, transportation, water infrastructure, and other critical sectors.

The Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative extends beyond conventional loans. Bank of America will incorporate qualifying primary-market loans, investments, capital markets transactions, and advisory services toward reaching the $250 billion goal. The program also encompasses banking solutions and supply-chain services associated with eligible infrastructure endeavors. Financing options are available for both corporate entities and individual assets, leveraging the bank’s corporate banking, investment banking, and markets divisions to collaborate with clients seeking capital for major projects across the US.
Digital infrastructure ranks as a core component of the initiative. Eligible projects include data centers, telecommunications networks, semiconductors, computing hardware, and related equipment. The energy segment covers traditional and renewable power generation, energy storage, and distribution systems. Core infrastructure projects involve transportation, electricity transmission, grid upgrades, water systems, critical minerals, and mining. The bank also highlighted that the initiative aims to address increasing infrastructure needs linked to computing, manufacturing, energy supply, and domestic supply chains.
The initiative encompasses technology, energy, and fundamental infrastructure
Bank of America explained that its Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams will oversee the coordination of the program. All eight of the bank’s business lines are expected to participate. Jim DeMare, co-president of Bank of America, emphasized that the effort centers on infrastructure vital to supporting the economy, ensuring energy security, and fostering technological advancement. The bank plans to monitor qualifying transactions over the 18-month period, with these transactions contributing toward the overall $250 billion commitment.
Supporting employment and workforce development also plays a significant role in the bank’s objectives for this initiative. Bank of America noted that infrastructure projects can generate jobs in construction, manufacturing, technology, and ongoing operations. The bank further supports training programs run by employers, nonprofit organizations, and community colleges. In 2025, it allocated nearly $40 million to more than 730 workforce development partners across U.S. markets, focusing on skills training, education, and job readiness.
The financing goal extends until July 2027
During 2025, the bank stated that its workforce partners connected more than 90,000 individuals to employment opportunities. These organizations also reported providing training, education, or career-preparedness resources to over 290,000 people. Bank of America emphasized that these figures are separate from the new infrastructure financing target. Karen Fang, global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, noted that large-scale infrastructure projects necessitate coordinated financing across multiple interconnected sectors. She also serves as co-head of Global Capital Solutions.
The bank will assess progress based on eligible financing activities completed within the program timeframe. It explained that its measurement approach aligns with the framework used for its existing $1.5 trillion sustainable finance goal. The new initiative concentrates explicitly on infrastructure development and modernization in the United States. Its July 4, 2027 end date extends beyond the country’s 250th anniversary, and the bank stated that the effort aims to support infrastructure, job creation, economic activity, and community development nationwide.
